Furze Platt Senior School

Furze Platt Senior School is located on the north-west tip of Maidenhead, with housing to the south and east, and green belt land to the north and west. It is a seven-form entry co-educational, non-denominational academy with 1250 students. Student attainment is exceptionally high, but Furze Platt’s envious local reputation relies as much on its friendly and caring atmosphere, and on the very wide range of extra-curricular activities that students engage in. The school benefits from over 80 expert teaching staff; many of whom lead the professional development of others. The school’s sixth form is a particular source of strength; students aspire to and are accepted into leading universities, including Oxbridge, but also play a very full role in the life of the school. The school is also noted for its vertical tutor system and house system: each student is a member of a form with students of different age groups, and is also a member of one of eight houses. This carefully constructed pastoral system enables healthy competition between houses, but also ensures that all students are supported, nurtured and cared for.
