Altwood Church of England School is a co-educational academy, with 830 students on roll including sixth form, located on the western side of Maidenhead.  The school is truly comprehensive catering for the full ability range, and with high aspirations for all.  The Altwood school community is underpinned by Gospel Values which encourage students and staff to aspire towards academic challenge, offer support, security and consider people as individuals.  Altwood has a strong, experienced team of committed staff who work tirelessly to get the best from their pupils.  The school has a clear vision and was commended by OFSTED for its leadership and management.  It continually seeks ways to inspire children and raise attainment and last summer’s results showed a significant increase.  Altwood has a broad and balanced curriculum, offering different pathways to accommodate the different needs of learners.  In addition, there is an extensive range of extra-curricular and enrichment activities.  Pupils understand and respect the school’s code of behaviour and genuinely feel part of a community.

 

 

About Us

Teach Maidenhead - (University of Reading ITE Hub) is the foremost teacher training provider west of London. We provide unsalaried secondary School Direct places. Our teacher training courses are organised in partnership with The University of Reading, a large Initial Teacher Training provider. Reading University train over 400 teachers each year and are ranked 9th in the UK for Education ( The Guardian University Guide 2024)
