Furze Platt Senior School is located on the north-west tip of Maidenhead, with housing to the south and east, and green belt land to the north and west. It is a nine-form entry co-educational, non-denominational academy with 1500 students. Student attainment is exceptionally high, but Furze Platt’s envious local reputation relies as much on its friendly and caring atmosphere, and on the very wide range of extra-curricular activities that students engage in. The school’s sixth form is a particular source of strength; students aspire to and are accepted into leading universities, including Oxbridge, but also play a very full role in the life of the school. There is a strong house system withing the school, along with a carefully constructed pastoral system enables healthy competition between houses, but also ensures that all students are supported, nurtured and cared for.
